ISABELLA PEREZ MT-INTERN
Isabella Perez
Music Therapist - Intern
Isabella’s love for music began in high school. After her grandpa's diagnosis of stage four brain cancer, Isabella spent a huge portion of her high school years in and out of the hospital with her family watching him painfully battle this disease. Isabella saw how worship music was the only thing that brought him comfort within the hospital. Those hospital experiences greatly impacted Isabella’s life and music began to change and mold her in ways she could have never imagined. She became very involved in her Church worship team and has continued to volunteer at her home Church with the worship team for over 10 years. That is where her passion for music began and grew. That passion led her to discover music therapy in her senior year of high school and go on to complete four years in the brand new music therapy program at Biola University. In her time at BU, Isabella completed over 180 hours of fieldwork working with an expansive range of populations.
Those included working with elderly with dementia in small and large groups, toddlers at a daycare center, women in recovery from substance abuse, and children and young adults at Miller’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Isabella also started BMTA (Biola Music Therapy Association) with her classmates and had the privilege of holding the role of President of the club for her junior and senior year of college.
Isabella has a heart to serve and help others that are in need. With her passion for music and people, she is very excited to learn and grow alongside her new colleagues as she interns at Mewsic Moves to complete her remaining 900 hours of fieldwork.
Isabella believes in the inherent worth and purpose of every human being and sees music as a powerful gift and tool to help others find their strength and full potential through it.
Isabella looks forward to this next stage of her music therapy journey here at Mewsic Moves.
