Music Therapist - Board Certified

I studied music therapy at Loyola University New Orleans and received my BA in music therapy. After attending university, I interned at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care of San Diego, where I learned many invaluable lessons about life and the sentiment music holds for each and every individual throughout the course of their life. I have achieved my board certification license (MT-BC) as a music therapist after completing my internship in 2020.

Since the age of 2, I have always sung and had an immense passion for music. As a child, I loved the emotions and feelings music could bring and hold space for. When singing, playing, or experiencing music, I was aware of the amazing benefits it had and the skills it taught me which I could apply in various areas of my life. 

In addition, growing up with a neurological disorder and learning disability, music helped me to feel special and capable in a world that was constantly telling me I was “falling short” or “different”. The confidence I gained from my musical abilities encouraged me to stay determined in academic tasks and helped me to not feel so alone. Music was able to bring out a side of me I otherwise would not have known was there. It taught me that if you fail, there is no reason to be ashamed; when you fail it is a learning experience, and the way you can succeed the next time is through practice and effort! And just like in music, I spent hours learning, adapting, and working towards the goal at hand and finding what best worked for me. It was only then that my work demonstrated the capabilities that were within me the whole time. Having this understanding from such an early age motivated me to show others how special they are and what all they can do when given the proper tools and resources, understanding, encouragement, and praise.

I am very excited to be working with Mewsic Moves, and look forward to helping each and every client discover what you they made of and how music can inspire, motivate and transform them just as it did for me!
